Australia news- Australia increased its sanctions against Australian individuals and companies as 147 new individuals received financial penalties from its government.

Katerina and Maria Putin, daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin and daughter of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, were among the new targets of Australian sanctions.

Australia says these sanctions are due to the illegal invasion of Ukraine, and as a deterrent for Moscow to stop these abuses.

Federal Secretary of State Marise Payne also stressed that her country will maintain the sanctions approach and will target people close to senior officials in the Russian authority.
