Australia recorded the sixth confirmed case of the new “Omicron” mutant of the emerging corona virus “Covid-19” in the state of “New South Wales”.

And Australian Health Minister Greg Hunt said – in a press briefing, reported by the Australian newspaper “The Edge” – that his country is starting to apply a 14-day quarantine to citizens coming from 9 African countries, including South Africa, due to the outbreak of the new Corona mutant.

He added that “any person who is not an Australian citizen or their dependents, and who has been in African countries where the Omicron strain was discovered during the past 14 days will not be able to enter Australia.”

He stressed the need for anyone who has already arrived in Australia and has been in any of the countries during the past 14 days, to isolate themselves immediately and be tested.
