Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Australia miscalculated China's move to the Solomon Islands because China was not abiding by diplomatic rules.
The blame game continues over why Australia has not responded quickly to the new Pacific Security Alliance.
In this context, Morrison said that China does not abide by the rules of transparent liberal democracy, this is a secret deal and the existing arrangements are not public.
Adding that he knows how to deal with an authoritarian nation that does not abide by agreed-upon rules.
