The Victorian government is facing criticism for the lack of improvement in ambulance response times.
More than 90,000 people are waiting for elective surgeries across the state, while a third of emergency patients have been made to wait longer than necessary 15 minutes for an ambulance, according to the March quarterly report.
So in response to increased demand, the Victorian government has invested $35 million to expedite the recruitment of an additional 120 first responders.
