Recently, interest in the “Metaverse” world has increased significantly, especially after the giant Facebook company announced its entry into this field and revolutionized communication and social relations based on it.

Recently, according to a filing Tuesday with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), financial giant ProShares filed for an index and Metaverse ETF.

It appears that ProShares wants to take advantage of the precedence feature given that Metaverse technologies are spreading very quickly after Facebook’s successful rebranding of Meta.

Upon approval, the ProShares ETF will track the performance of indices of companies that provide and use technologies that offer products and services related to the “metaverse.”

This includes companies involved in the manufacture of “metaverse” devices and data processing.

Some of these indicators include giant companies such as:

Apple, Nvidia and Meta.

According to Bloomberg, the value of the global Metaverse ETF has risen to $2.2 billion as of December 28.

The majority of ETFs were launched during the last quarter.

Last month, two Metaverse ETFs were launched in Canada in one day.

Since its launch earlier on June 30, Roundhill Ball Metaverse (META) now has approximately $1 billion in assets under management.

Todd Rosenbluth, Director of Mutual Fund and ETF Research at CFRA, said:

I don’t know if the main theme has legs and future development, but investors believe in it.

Given the success of the ETF META, it is likely that we will see more products come to market that offer a unique development in this long-term topic.

ProShares is gaining more strength in 2021:

Financial giant ProShares has been pretty fast enough to pick up on the latest trends happening in the field of blockchain, technology, and fintech.

In September, ProShares became the first company to receive approval from the US Securities and Exchange Commission to launch a Bitcoin futures ETF.

Currently, the ProShares Metaverse ETF tracks only publicly listed companies and not any metaverse crypto projects.

However, as “metaverse” projects such as “The Sandbox,” “Decentraland” and others are gaining strength and gaining maturity, we may soon see the creation of a crypto ETF dedicated to the “metaverse” space.
