The acceleration of the return of European embassies to Kiev and India calls for dialogue to end the Russian war



Sweden, Denmark and Hungary announced the return of their embassies to work from the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, while India called for dialogue to end the Russian war on Ukraine.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said today, Monday, that Hungary has relocated its embassy in Ukraine from Lviv, in the west of the country, to Kyiv, in light of the continued improvement of the security situation in the capital.

In a Facebook video, Sijarto added that the move was completed over the weekend and that the embassy in Kyiv had already begun its work.

Swedish Foreign Minister Anne Linde said on Twitter on Monday that Sweden will reopen its embassy in Kyiv on Wednesday after it was temporarily closed following the outbreak of Russia’s ongoing war on Ukraine.

Also this morning, Danish Foreign Minister Yeppe Kofod said in a statement issued by his ministry in the context of an unannounced visit to Ukraine that “the reopening of the doors of the Danish embassy today is a strong sign of support for Ukraine and its people.” The Danish Foreign Minister raised his country’s flag on the embassy building today in Kyiv.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba published a picture of him with his Danish counterpart, and said that they began a tour of Ukraine by visiting the town of Irbin near the capital, where the Russian army committed unspeakable atrocities, according to the minister’s description.

The Danish Foreign Minister expressed his country’s support for accelerating Ukraine’s accession procedures to the European Union.


With the concentration of the Russian army on the eastern and southern fronts of Ukraine and its withdrawal from the outskirts of Kyiv since the end of last March, the security situation in the Ukrainian capital improved and various aspects of life returned to almost normal.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Monday from Berlin for “dialogue” to end the war in Ukraine, but avoided condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

“Since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine, we have called for a ceasefire and stressed that dialogue is the only way to resolve the conflict that no side can win,” the Prime Minister of India said during a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
